The School of Anthropology and Conservation has created a new series named DICE Talks that will take place every month and will consist of a public lecture by DICE staff, students and alumni.<\/p>\n
This month\u2019s DICE Talk will occur on October 25th and be given by Dr Hazel Jackson, a DICE alumna and Associate Member. It\u2019s entitled ‘A pandemonium of parakeets! The successful establishment of ring-necked parakeets across Europe.’<\/p>\n
Dr Jackson specialises in population genetics of invasive species, mainly the ring-necked parakeet, one of the fastest growing bird populations in the UK. Hazel’s\u00a0postdoctoral work with DICE was in collaboration with the Seychelles Island Foundation to establish the evolutionary distinctiveness of the endangered Seychelles black parrot.<\/p>\n
The talk will take place in Grimond Lecture Theatre 3 starting at 18:00 and will last for one hour.<\/p>\n
