{"id":2312,"date":"2017-07-12T16:30:50","date_gmt":"2017-07-12T16:30:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/?p=2312"},"modified":"2017-07-12T16:31:53","modified_gmt":"2017-07-12T16:31:53","slug":"sac-postgraduate-team-competes-in-kent-10k-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/2017\/07\/12\/sac-postgraduate-team-competes-in-kent-10k-run\/","title":{"rendered":"SAC postgraduate team competes in Kent 10k run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Joe Broomfield, a student on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/postgraduate\/190\/evolution-and-human-behaviour\" target=\"_blank\">MSc in Evolution and Human Behaviour<\/a> programme, decided to enter a team consisting of his peers into the recent University of Kent 10k run. A keen runner, the organiser&#8217;s offer of a free massage for every runner sealed the deal for him. Plus, it provided a good opportunity for students across the taught programmes to get to know each other and, at the very least, encourage some to exercise more. He managed to recruit a team of six comprising of himself, fellow human behaviourist Mike Smetana, and Jess Stewart, Tracy Peyman, Andrea Moshier and Danni Thompson on conservation programmes.<\/p>\n<p>Tracy hates running just for the sake of it so wanted to set a goal for motivation, Andrea took part in a bid to &#8220;stave off laziness&#8221; and to check out the running scene in the UK, whilst Danni and Jess wanted to attempt a 10k for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>It was a successful run in that everybody finished well, with a few of the team managing personal bests, but unsuccessful in that Joe didn&#8217;t get his free massage.
