{"id":1573,"date":"2014-12-18T15:05:01","date_gmt":"2014-12-18T15:05:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/?p=1573"},"modified":"2014-12-19T09:35:52","modified_gmt":"2014-12-19T09:35:52","slug":"top-10-ranking-for-sac-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/sac-news-events\/2014\/12\/18\/top-10-ranking-for-sac-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Top 10 ranking for SAC research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The School of Anthropology and Conservation are delighted to be ranked 10<sup>th<\/sup> for research power within the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The REF 2014 assesses the quality of academic research conducted by higher education institutions and the School has been ranked 10<sup>th<\/sup> for its \u2018research power\u2019 within the area of Anthropology and Development Studies.<\/p>\n<p>The research power rating recognises both the overall quality of the research and the number of researchers whose work was submitted for evaluation to the REF.<\/p>\n<p>SAC was assessed as having 59% of its research as world-leading or internationally excellent confirming that our School is a central player in the UK both in terms of Anthropology (Social and Biological) and Biodiversity Conservation.\u00a0 In addition, 88% of the research environment within the school was judged as being of world-leading or internationally excellent quality in terms of its vitality and sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the results Professor Joao Pina Cabral, Head of School, said, \u201cThese results show how our school has a thriving research environment which incorporates a number of different disciplines within a coherent project aimed at responding to some of the central\u00a0questions of our times.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The School of Anthropology and Conservation are delighted to be ranked 10th for research power within the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014.
