Thank you to all for keeping up to date with us in 2022. Here’s a look back at an epic year in stats!
As a treat we’ve compiled the best statistics across our School, as well as our best blogs and stories of 2022.

We explored many categories, but here were our top 5:
Our year can’t be contained in a playlist (of blogs), but we tried anyway.
- In January we learnt about the Economics of Sustainability
- February brought social bonding, cocaine, and disorderly behaviour at football matches
- We kept safe in March
- Sometimes it snows in April..
- We Mapped Urban Resources in May
- In June we thought about robots
- We inspired future generations in July

- In September we spoke about hands, fingers, knees and feet
- The Climate Anxiety Support Group saved us in October
- We stepped into the Dragon’s Den in November
- And in December we got hygge with moss balls and baubles
Animals
Whilst in Costa Rica, our final year students encountered animals that we don’t see around Kent! Our students did Caiman Surveys, Morning Turtle Census, Night Turtle Patrol, and tracked Jaguar prints – they fell asleep to croaking frogs and woke up to roaring howler monkeys. Jess Callaghan hung out with bats and capuchins at 7am!
We clearly have an affinity to mammals. Sorry bugs.
Oh, the Places You’ll Go
- In Guyana, we understood the impacts of gold mining on biodiversity and the impact of humans on bird communities.
- In Indonesia, selected student Ardiantiono will be transformed into an effective leader as part of the Science Leadership Collaborative program.
- In Poland, Charlotte Long volunteered with a charity that matches Ukranian Refugees with British hosts.
- In Kenya, Tanya Humle helped avoid, reduce, restore negative impacts from building projects on apes.
- In Guinea, we trained in genetic sampling of chimpanzee faeces for DNA analysis.
- In Costa Rica, our final-year BSc Conservation students travelled to the CaƱo Palma Biological Field Station for essential conservation work. Watch our Top Tips here!
