Join Dr Florent Détroit, from the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, to hear about the exciting discovery of a new species of hominin, Homo luzonensis. Homo luzonensis is a Late Pleistocene species of the genus Homo from Callao Cave (Northern Luzon, Philippines).
Dr Détroit is a palaeoanthropologist specialising in the evolution of Pleistocene hominins in Southeast Asia. His research interests include biological and cultural variability of Homo sapiens in Africa and inter-tropical Asia. Since 2007, Dr Détroit has been conducting fieldwork in Callao Cave (The Philippines) that led to the identification of a new hominin species.
