The School of Anthropology and Conservation is very proud to open its brand new £150,000 teaching laboratory, completed over the summer vacation in preparation for the incoming cohort of students in the academic year 2018-19.
The lab is a fully-equipped scientific research space and showcases the School’s comprehensive cast collection of human and primate skeletal models, which includes fully-mounted skeletons of a chimpanzee and spider monkey and a reconstruction of a gigantopithecus, the largest ape known to man
The space has been designed to emphasises the School’s enthusiasm for object-based teaching with students having the opportunity to learn surrounded by casts of our ancestors as well as studying medieval human remains from Canterbury and its surrounding areas.
