Dr Andrew Sanchez has had a new book published by Routledge called Criminal Capital: Violence, Corruption & Class in Industrial India. Based upon field research among a ‘casualised’ workforce in the industrial city of Jamshedpur, the book examines the links between the decline of employment security, and criminality in trade unions, corporations and the state.
The subject is particularly topical since the Tata company that the research is based upon, is currently the subject of a great deal of UK press attention regarding the planned closure of their Scunthorpe steel works.
