You are all invited to attend the next Centre for Architecture and the Sustainable Environment (CASE) Open Lecture on Tuesday 9th March (6pm-7.30pm) [TEAMS ] given by Dr Jonathan Rock Rokem, Lecturer in Human Geography at the School of Anthropology and Conservation at the University of Kent, and Co-Director of Kent’s Interdisciplinary Centre for Spatial Studies (KISS).
This lecture draws on emerging interdisciplinary debates bridging human and physical geography with architecture and planning, seeking to establish a working interface between the social sciences and the built environment. This is part of a new research and teaching agenda established at the School of Anthropology and Conservation within the BA Environmental Social Science, and specifically in the new GEOG5005 Cities and the Climate Emergency module bridging disciplinary barriers, and developing a more nuanced discussion related to the ‘cities and climate change’ agenda. In addition to a critical overview of key global policy discussions driving the discourse, the lecture will explore theorisations across the human and spatial science that help rethink the environmental emergency and the need for cities to take a lead in renewed way.
