Dr Nicholas E. Newton-Fisher is currently selecting students for the field experience of a lifetime. In September, he will be taking seven students to a field-site in Uganda, normally accessible only to researchers, to study the ecology and behaviour of wild chimpanzees first hand.
After running as a pilot last year, this is the first full year for this field course. The trip is open to students studying for a BSc in Biological Anthropology, BSc in Anthropology or BSc in Wildlife Conservation who demonstrate a particular interest in non-human primates, and counts as credits towards their degree.
The course provides training in behavioural and ecological methods, as well as the incomparable experience of fieldwork, all of which help students develop deeper understanding of their lecture material and prepares them for post-graduate research.
