Last week, Dr Jonathan Mair, Lecturer in Socio-cultural Anthropology, attended the launch of an exhibition at The Embassy of Colombia as Secretary of the Association of Social Anthropologists of the UK and Commonwealth (ASA).
The exhibition, entitled Colombia: Biodiversity and Culture, highlights the geographical, biological and social variety of Colombia. Colombia has been important in the history of social anthropology, especially in relation to fieldwork carried out with indigenous groups in the Colombian Amazon.
Students studying on the BA Social Anthropology programme can choose a module on the Amazon as part of their degree, and other students may be able to study it as an optional course.
