The School of Anthropology and Conservation has created a new series named DICE Talks that will take place every month and will consist of a public lecture by DICE staff, students and alumni.
Director of DICE, Dr Bob Smith, will be delivering the inaugural lecture addressing how ‘ugly’ species can be saved at the University of Kent’s Canterbury campus on Thursday 27th September, 2018. Dr Smith will talk about his research on how conservationists can best fundraise for uncharismatic and ugly species.
His work as a conservation scientist involves understanding how marketing techniques developed in the business world can help conserve nature, encouraging people to change their attitudes and behaviour.
The talk, entitled ‘How can we save ugly species?’ will take place in Grimond Lecture Theatre 3 starting at 18:00.
The event is free and open to the public.
