The School welcomed Professor Alf Hornborg, Lund University, to give the 2017-18 Stirling Lecture. Attended by over 200 people, the occasion also marked the opening of the School of Anthropology & Conservation’s new extension by the University’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Karen Cox. A recording of the lecture is now available online. The School is also delighted to announce that the lecture has been published in Hau: Journal of Ethnographic Theory. The organiser of this year’s lecture, Dr Robert Fish said, “The Stirling Lecture is a highlight of the School’s academic calendar that took on a special resonance this year with the renewal of our physical space. We are thrilled that Professor Hornborg’s lecture will now reach a wider audience, which reflects the School’s commitment to promoting vibrant and challenging academic discourse. Hornborg’s lecture is an important statement about the systemic inequalities that define global scales of social and economic organisation, and with major lessons for anyone with a serious interest in questions of sustainability and development”.
