DICE alumnus wins Early Career Conservationist Award

DICE alumnus Dr Diogo VerĂssimo has been awarded the 2017 Society for Conservation Biology’s Early Career Conservationist Award. The honour was given to him at the International Congress for Conservation Biology in Cartagena, Colombia in recognition of his hard work.

Diogo’s research is multidisciplinary, applying methods from biology, economics and anthropology to develop a more systematic approach to explore the potential of the ‘flagship’ concept by identifying the key attributes of a successful flagship, investigating new potential target audiences, and exploring how the concept can be used to target new conservation objectives such as less charismatic animal groups. This knowledge will allow for the maximisation of awareness and fundraising for biodiversity conservation.
