Split PhD in Columbia

Anthropology staff forge exciting relationship with IMANI, Columbia

Miguel Alexiades, Juan Alvaro Echeverri and Daniela Peluso have recently initiated a Split PhD programme between the University of Kent and IMANI (Instituto Amazónico de Investigaciones) at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Leticia, Colombia. The IMANI forms a very important nucleus of Amazonian studies in Latin America.

This scheme will allow for mutually beneficial collaboration and productive exchanges between post-graduate programs at a PhD level premised on the huge potential for synergism and exchange that exists between both institutions. The agreement will allow staff and students to draw upon a vast network of regional experts linked to the National University of Colombia particularly in terms of the opportunities it offers for obtaining greater exposure, writing new collaborative grants, developing new field sites and projects.

Joaquin Carrizosa is the first PhD student facilitated by this scheme.
