Darwin project wins award

BBC documentary recorded at our site in West Sumatra was voted one of the top five Climate Change Adaptation stories.

The radio documentary, conducted by the BBC, in one of our Darwin Initiative project sites (Guguak Malalo) entitled: Lost in Translation: Islam for conservation and adaptation, the story of villagers in Guguak Malalo, West Sumatra, made it to the top five Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) stories for the Competition for Best Media Report on Climate Change Adaptation organised by UNEP in Bangkok.

The Adaptation Forum 2011 and the Third Pole Project  organised the competition for the best media reports on Adaptation to Climate Change and an award ceremony will be held for the top five winners at the CCA Film festival  later this month in Bangkok, Thailand.

The featured project “Integrating religion within conservation: Islamic beliefs and Sumatran forest management” is one implemented by DICE in West Sumatra in partnership with  Fauna and Flora International (FFI), The British Council (BC), Conservation International (CI)-Indonesia programme and The Islamic Foundation for Ecology and Environmental Sciences (IFEES).
