Honorary Professor Patricia Howard is leading a multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional effort, including School staff members Rajindra Puri and Michael Fischer, to develop conceptual frameworks, methods and a science policy network for research and policy development on Human Adaptation to Biodiversity Change, funded by the Ecosystem Services and Poverty Alleviation Programme (NERC/ESRC/DFID).
As part of the project, this autumn, a multidisciplinary team of researchers is working with ATREE, Bangalore, India, to research the human responses to the effects of Lantana camara, a noxious super weed, among forest dependent Soliga and Lingayat peoples in the Male Mahadeshwar Hills of Karnataka.
