Our last blog post on the Creative Industries Series with the Careers and Employability Service (CES) features a talk from Christopher Laing, the founder of the Deaf Architecture Front (DAF), which took place last term during UK Disability Month.

Christopher Laing discussed in this session how DAF aims to bridge the gap between the architecture industry and the deaf community and to strengthen connections between deaf culture and architectural design. Christopher also discussed Silent Buttons, presenting a short film of the same name and explained the creative process behind the film and the importance of the campaign to raise awareness of the everyday barriers faced by the deaf community.  The event has also introduced Deaf Space and a Deaf Space Lab, with its focus on developing resources and Signstrokes, a collection of British Sign Language (BSL) architectural terms.

Don’t forget, if you missed out and would like career guidance and support, you can always reach out to the Careers and Employability team to book an appointment.
