The first Census he was mentioned in was the 1901, which listed him at 6 along with his widowed mother Ada, and his 8 year old brother Glanville. They were registered at 10 Institution Road, Chatham.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Sometime between then and the 1911 Census, Stanley and his mother and brother relocated to 23 New Road, Rochester, where his mother ran\u00a0a boarding house. She housed two lodgers along with the family. Stanley was registered as a 16 year old school boy, which was an unusually high age, for someone to still be at school during this period. His brother was registered as a chemist&#8217;s assistant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Stanley was regimented at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.longlongtrail.co.uk\/army\/regiments-and-corps\/the-british-infantry-regiments-of-1914-1918\/suffolk-regiment\/\">10 Att 8 Suffolks<\/a> and was serving as a 2<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;font-size: small\"><sup>nd<\/sup><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\"> Lieutenant. His regimental number was 1055. He is also registered on the Medals role index.
