The programme, which took place at the beginning of November, gave colleagues the chance to connect and learn from each other\u2019s successes through a series of interactive sessions and was also attended by the University&#8217;s Vice Chancellor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/about\/governance\/profiles\/3948\/cox-karen\">Professor Karen Cox<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The programme featured updates and insights from across the Division, including the Philosophy team and Social Work practitioners and their partners. There was also a panel event on celebrating and planning impact and a Heritage Stakeholders\u2019 Day in the Moot Court attended by the Lord Mayor. The annual Tucker Millward Memorial Lecture, which this year featured guest speaker Her Honour Judge Sarah Davies, was also part of the programme, with the theme \u2018chipping away at the glass ceiling\u2019.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_649\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-649\" style=\"width: 1280px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-649 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ris\/files\/2023\/01\/thumbnail_image017.jpg\" alt=\"A photo from the Tucker Millward Memorial Lecture.\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-649\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A photo from the Tucker Millward Memorial Lecture.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>An event highlight was a talk hosted by Dr Kirsty Horsey on the recent review of Surrogacy Law. Working with <a href=\"https:\/\/surrogacyuk.org\/\">Surrogacy UK<\/a> (the largest non-profit surrogacy organisation in the UK), Dr Horsey\u2019s research has led to substantial changes in the oversight and regulation of surrogacy in the UK, and to Government policy relating to surrogacy as a form of family creation.<\/p>\n<p>The week also saw the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/social-policy-sociology-social-research\/centre-for-child-protection\">Centre for Child Protection<\/a> celebrate their 10th anniversary and host their Annual Conference.
