{"id":1456,"date":"2021-07-14T16:00:43","date_gmt":"2021-07-14T15:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ris\/?p=1456"},"modified":"2025-05-19T16:01:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-19T15:01:08","slug":"outstanding-ktp-partner-receives-queens-award-for-enterprise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ris\/2021\/07\/14\/outstanding-ktp-partner-receives-queens-award-for-enterprise\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Outstanding\u2019 KTP partner receives Queen\u2019s Award for Enterprise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations to <a href=\"https:\/\/priorityfreight.com\/\">Priority Freight<\/a>, the leading time-critical logistics specialist who have recently collected the prestigious Queen\u2019s Award for Enterprise for International Trade 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Priority Freight embarked on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/knowledge-exchange-innovation\/knowledge-transfer-partnerships\">Knowledge Transfer Partnership<\/a> (KTP) with academics from the University of Kent in 2017 to develop a tool to identify ways to combine loads and shipments \u2013 helping them to reduce their carbon emissions by an average of 2.2 tonnes of CO<sub>2<\/sub> a week. This allowed the company to lessen the environmental impact of their services, whilst still providing clients with the service levels for which they\u2019re renowned.<\/p>\n<p>The KTP, set up by the <a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/clho\/\">Centre of Logistics &amp; Heuristic Optimisation (CLHO)<\/a>\u00a0in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/kent-business-school\">Kent Business School<\/a>,\u00a0was awarded the highest grade of \u201cOutstanding\u201d by the KTP Grading Panel at Innovate UK- something which only 10% of KTP projects achieve!<\/p>\n<p>At the time, Managing Director Neal Williams said of the project, \u201cWorking together has enabled knowledge transfer that is helping not only to drive our business forward but also to develop the knowledge, expertise and careers of our team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The outcomes from the project supported their certification to the latest environmental standard, and contributed to their consistent growth in international trade. More recently, they have played a key role in aiding governments and companies to bring in PPE from around the world during the pandemic. It\u2019s this, in addition to their industry-leading activity, which has led to the company being awarded the Queen\u2019s Award for Enterprise, one of the most prestigious business awards in the UK.<\/p>\n<p><em>The KTP partnership received financial support from the <a href=\"http:\/\/ktp.innovateuk.org\/\">Knowledge Transfer Partnerships programme<\/a>\u00a0(KTP). KTP aims to help businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the UK knowledge base.
