{"id":1343,"date":"2024-08-05T10:35:47","date_gmt":"2024-08-05T09:35:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ris\/?p=1343"},"modified":"2025-05-19T12:48:16","modified_gmt":"2025-05-19T11:48:16","slug":"funding-available-to-upskill-in-ai-with-the-university-of-kent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/ris\/2024\/08\/05\/funding-available-to-upskill-in-ai-with-the-university-of-kent\/","title":{"rendered":"Limited-time funding opportunity for SMEs to upskill in AI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Businesses seeking to upskill in AI have a limited-time opportunity to access Government funding to take part in Kent&#8217;s new AI-focussed training course.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/global-lifelong-learning\/ai-in-business\"><i>AI in Business: Challenges and Potential<\/i><\/a> is a new 15-hour course for senior leaders and professionals which explores the different ways\u202fAI technologies can be used in business. Businesses have until the 18 August to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/flexible-ai-upskilling-fund\/ai-upskilling-fund-application-guide\">secure funding via the Government&#8217;s AI Upskilling fund<\/a> to cover up to 50% of the course costs.<\/p>\n<p>Set within the context of today\u2019s fast-changing world, the course examines the risks and challenges of AI technology from legal, regulatory and sector perspectives, and explores the potential and solutions that AI can offer for business optimisation, marketing and growth. It is unique in that it brings together elements of computing, business and law, and addresses topics such as transparency, privacy, bias, governance, impact and implementation.<\/p>\n<p>The course offers\u202f15 hours of learning\u202fspread across\u202f4 half-day sessions and is designed to complement full-time work. The sessions, which combine theory with practice, drawing on industry case studies and facilitated peer learning, will take place both online and in person on the University of Kent\u2019s Canterbury Campus.<\/p>\n<p>The course is ideal for senior leaders in small and medium-sized enterprises and beneficial to professionals from any industry and the public sector. Contents, delivered by renowned Kent academics and experts in partnership with Pinsent Masons, can be\u202fadjusted\u202fto meet different industry and professional needs.<\/p>\n<p>The course costs \u00a31,800 with the first cohort due to start in February 2025. Businesses looking to subsidise the cost by up to 50% through the Government\u2019s AI Upskilling fund will need to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/flexible-ai-upskilling-fund\/ai-upskilling-fund-application-guide\">apply to the Government scheme<\/a> by 18 August 2024. <span class=\"ui-provider a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z ab ac ae af ag ah ai aj ak\" dir=\"ltr\">As this falls on a Sunday, the funding team encourage submissions by 12:00 pm on Friday 16 August to allow for technical difficulties or questions about the application process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/global-lifelong-learning\/ai-in-business\"><b>More information about the course can be found on Kent\u2019s Global and Lifelong Learning website.<\/b><\/a><b>\u202f<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Businesses seeking to upskill in AI have a limited-time opportunity to access Government funding to take part in Kent&#8217;s new AI-focussed training course.
