Registration has now opened for the Eastern Arc Conference 2025: ‘Sanctuary Solidarities’.
As a member of the academic research consortium, Eastern Arc, the University of Kent is supporting the conference held at the University of Sussex on 10 September 2025.
It will focus on the fourth of Eastern Arc’s priorities, Sanctuary, and uses the anniversaries of the founding of UNHCR and Cities of Sanctuary movement to explore a diverse range of issues for refugees, migrants and those seeking sanctuary, and for those supporting them. These include:
- Educational and employment challenges for refugees
- Partnership-building with universities in regions of conflict
- Using the creative arts in community building
- Working with host communities to address worries and fears
- Addressing ethical issues around refugee research
- Highlighting the legal framework of support for refugees.

To apply to attend the conference, please complete this form. The deadline for doing so is 7 August 2025.
We will only confirm your place after the closing date, as we are keen to have as wide a representation of individuals and organisations at the conference as possible, and therefore will try and strike a balance between those represented.
