Dr Anna Pakes<\/a> | Senior Honorary Research Fellow, University of Roehampton<\/p>\n Anna Pakes is a Senior Honorary Research Fellow in Dance Studies at University of Roehampton, where she specialises in philosophy of dance, especially analytic philosophical approaches and themes. She is a former dancer and choreographer, co-editor of the anthology Thinking through Dance, English translator of Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Pouillaude’s Unworking Choreography (OUP, 2017). Anna is a two-time recipient of the Selma Jeanne Cohen Prize in Dance Aesthetics, first in 2018 for “Reenactment, Dance Identity, and Historical Fictions,” in <\/span>The Oxford Handbook of Dance and Reenactment<\/span><\/i>, edited by Mark Franko (OUP, 2017) and most recently in 2021 for <\/span>Choreography Invisible: The Disappearing Work of Dance<\/span><\/i> (OUP, 2020).<\/span><\/p>\n Dominic Blake<\/a> | Art Writer, Performance Artist, symposium co-organiser<\/p>\n Dominic Blake is a London based art writer and performance artist whose work concerning the life model is located at the core of the emerging debate this symposium takes as its focus. Analysing the role of the model through art historical and experiential perspectives, Blake advocates a new way of understanding modelling according to which it might become an artistic practice given particular motivations on the part of the practitioner and the contexts within which they locate themselves. Borne out of his experiences working as a life model at the RA, Blake\u2019s ongoing lecture series \u2018Are Life Models Artists?\u2019 has appeared at venues including The National Gallery and RCA, receiving national press coverage. He is a contributing writer for Aesthetica Magazine and The Charleston Press. A book sharing the title of his lecture series will be published in 2023.<\/p>\n Prof A. W. Eaton<\/a> | Professor of Philosophy, University of Illinois Chicago<\/p>\n A.W. Eaton received her PhD from The University of Chicago in both philosophy and art history in 2003. She works on topics in feminism, aesthetics and philosophy of art, value theory, and Italian Renaissance painting. Her special interests include the epistemological and ontological status of aesthetic value, the relationship between ethical and artistic value, feminist critiques of pornography, representations of rape in the European artistic tradition, and artifact teleology). Professor Eaton was a Laurence Rockefeller Fellow at Princeton’s Center for Human Values in 2005-6. She is the editor of the Aesthetics & Philosophy of Art section of Philosophy Compass<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n JJ Delvine<\/a> | Artist, Curator<\/p>\n JJ Delvine is an artist who lives and works in South East London. His art practice encompasses painting, curating, sound art, writing, and fabrication. His portraits have been selected three times for the BP Portrait Award. His new project, The Oolographer, combines eggs, painting, art history, and the history of collections. He studied at the University of East Anglia and London Guildhall University. He has curated projects and events in London and Mexico City. Delvine\u2019s work has been published and seen in group and solo exhibitions in London, Berlin and Rotterdam and was previously included in the BP Portrait Award in 2006, 2011, and 2018.<\/p>\n Anne Noble-Partridge<\/a> | Artist, Director, Gallerist<\/p>\n Anne Noble-Partridge is the co-founder and Director of London Drawing<\/a>, a figurative artist, and educator. She has taught extensively across London for the past 15 years at a range of arts institutions including Tate Modern, National Gallery, Central St Martins, London College of Communication, and Imperial College.\u00a0 Life Drawing Workshops have been commissioned by <\/span>The V&A, The Design Museum, Tate Britain, The British Museum, the Wellcome Trust and The Royal Institute of British Architects. Her artistic work is almost exclusively figurative and has incorporated <\/span>painting, drawing, photography and video- as well as creative direction and set\/ styling for events at London Drawing.
