Training opportunity for Environmental Sciences ECRs

Raspberry Pi training at UEA

Kent ECRs working in the Environmental Sciences are eligible to attend the following workshop (for free).  There is also scope for some financial help with travel and accommodation costs.

This course using Raspberry Pi’s and inexpensive sensors to create novel measurement systems, will be held on 11th – 13th January.  The course will aim to equip you with an understanding of using Raspberry Pi’s, how to integrate different types of sensors, how to log the data, etc.  Attendees will be invited to come up with an idea for a measurement system and the E3i club will obtain the equipment necessary for the chosen systems so that you can build them after the course.  This will be held at UEA but there is funding available for travel and accommodation for students from Kent and Essex.  If you’re interested, please email Gillian Damerell – g.damerell@uea.ac.uk – for further details and to register for the course.  The course will involve 2 days in the Lewin lab – the 11th and the 13th – with the 12th free to discuss ideas for measurement systems, write equipment lists, and possibly some kind of vote on what systems to take forward if there are too many ideas. But Rasp Pi’s and small sensors are very cheap, so we should be able to make quite a number!
