RPD workshops for researchers

The Learning & Development team is running Reflect, Plan, Develop (RPD) workshops for researchers and those who manage researchers on Tuesday 29 November.

Session 1: RPD workshop for researchers (reviewees). 10.00 – 11.30am

Designed for: New members of research staff or researchers who have not previously received RPD training at the University of Kent

Overview:       This is a practical session providing information about the Reflect Plan Develop framework at the University of Kent with a particular focus on career development and planning for a career in research

Learning objectives: By the end of the course attendees will:

  • Understand the RPD framework and documentation
  • Be able to prepare for and participate in a meaningful RPD discussion

Session 2: RPD workshop for researchers (reviewers). 13.30 – 16.00pm

Designed for: Researchers and Research Managers who are new to the University and/or are undertaking RPD reviews for their teams for the first time.

Overview:       This is a practical session providing guidance for reviewers who manage researchers. The session has a focus on career development and planning for a research career.

Learning objectives: By the end of the course attendees will:

  • Understand the RPD framework and documentation in the context of a research role
  • Be able to prepare for and participate in a meaningful RPD discussion
  • Be able to facilitate a reflective conversation
  • Be confident in agreeing SMART Objectives
  • Be able to plan appropriate development activities for their team
