Can you believe that next Friday is the end of the 2018-2019 academic year! Where has this year gone?! #timeflies I definitely can’t! It must be a sign that I am getting older when I can’t believe how quickly time is passing by!
Even though it has been a very stressful time for all the students (and I remember that vividly myself!) I’m writing this post to ask all of the students to please #reuse and #recycle everything you can before you leave!!!!
So I wanted to give you a quick break down of what and how you can recycle: All plastics (bottles, tubs, pots etc), tins, cans, paper, cardboard, aerosol sprays and cartons go into the mixed recycling bin which has a large green lid in the external bin compounds. Glass bottles and jars go into the glass recycling bin which has a small green lid at the external bin compounds. You then may have batteries, toner and ink cartridges, mobile phones and electrical items which all go to your accommodation reception. Then any donations such as clothes, books, shoes, bags, dvd’s, cd’s and games go into the British Heart Foundation donation points. To see exactly where our BHF donation points are watch our BHF Instagram highlight https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/18013001338175788/ 🙂
With Kent Union we are planning a food drive for unopened non-perishable food such as rice, pasta, cereals, tins and cans etc. Keep an eye on our twitter and Instagram for updates.
For the second year running student services are running a duvet donation scheme with duvets (still with fire labels) are to be donated to charities in the local area such as homeless shelters and animal shelters. To donate your duvets please follow us on social media to see the location (TBC) to be stored ready for us to take to the respective charities.
Then all you will have left is any opened or half eaten food, bedding or polystyrene which need to go into the general waste bins which have a large black lid in the external bin compounds, maps of all bin locations and facilities can be found here.
And that is everything! If you keep in mind that all the facilities that you need can be found around your accommodation it makes it so much easier! And all of the staff here at Kent would really appreciate the bins being used to their full advantage and in the correct way. If you’re unsure just send us an email at estatesfmcoordinator@kent.ac.uk and we will be happy to help.
I really hope that you’ve enjoyed this academic year and that after a nice relaxing #summer break (fingers crossed for a hot summer!!) and that you will be looking forward to joining us again in late September! And for those that are graduating, congratulations and good luck!!
