Canterbury Nightline\u202fis a non-judgmental listening and information service, supporting students throughout the night.<\/p>\n

Any student from The University of Kent or Canterbury Christ Church University can call us. You can talk about anything and all calls are confidential and anonymous; so you don\u2019t have to tell us anything about yourself, not even your name, and the content of the call never leaves Nightline. Interested in volunteering?<\/b><\/p>\n

Canterbury Nightline is a completely student run service, by working this way, we ensure that when a student calls for advice they are supported by another student who understands what they are going through. To provide this service we need a number of students who are willing to volunteer their time to help others. We have two types of volunteering roles available: Listening and Publicity.<\/p>\n

Listening:<\/b><\/i>\u202fThrough this role you will be on the end of the phone with a student in need of someone to talk to. Full training is given so the main requirement for these roles is a willingness to listen, an ability to empathise and an open mind.<\/p>\n

Publicity:<\/b><\/i>\u202fCanterbury Nightline is an anonymous service for both callers and listeners, but we still need people to shout about it! Through this role you\u2019ll be helping\u00a0to\u00a0run social media campaigns and events, chatting to students and informing them about how they can use the service.<\/p>\n

All perspective listening volunteers are required to attend a 1-hour group info session so that we can make sure you are the right fit for Nightline. If successful, you will then be invited to a 2-day training session.<\/p>\n

All students volunteering for Nightline are provided with ongoing training to ensure you are as effective as possible in your role, and are continuously developing your skills set.\u202fAll volunteers are fully supported, and volunteer welfare is at the heart of what we do.<\/p>\n
