For National Schools Linking Celebration Week (13th \u2013 17th June 2022) she blogs about the benefits of this initiative:<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4302\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4302\" style=\"width: 683px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/psychology\/files\/2022\/06\/The-Linking-Network-children.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-4302\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/psychology\/files\/2022\/06\/The-Linking-Network-children.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"683\" height=\"454\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4302\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Connecting with people we have things in common with is important for creating a feeling of belonging and self-worth, and positive attitudes to diversity.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thelinkingnetwork.org.uk\/what-we-do\/school-linking-2021-22\/\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">&#8216;School Linking<\/span><\/a> <span data-contrast=\"none\">is an exciting education programme that brings together children from different schools, who may not normally have a chance to meet, to learn and have fun together. What I love about Schools Linking is it shows how psychological theories, like the contact hypothesis, can be used to create effective, cutting-edge education programmes that impact on children\u2019s everyday lives. Plus, also, it gave them a whole new, almost skill set, for a couple of mine actually gave them the confidence to share information that maybe they hadn&#8217;t wanted to share before&#8221; Schools Linking teacher\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Disclosing personal information about ourselves is one of the bedrocks of friendship. It requires space and time, and trust, which Schools Linking activities provide. Children who are more open to difference and other cultures are more inclusive in their friendship behaviors. Schools Linking teachers think this is important, and from a young age to help children resist negative attitudes.
