Alumna Rianna Patterson has been selected as a regional finalist of the 2022 Commonwealth Youth Awards.<\/p>\n
Organized by the Commonwealth Youth Programme<\/strong><\/a>, the awards<\/strong><\/a> recognise outstanding Commonwealth young people (aged 15-29), whose projects are transforming lives in their communities; providing practical solutions to complex problems and helping to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals and 2030 Agenda. The Commonwealth\u2019s 54 member countries have a combined population of 2.5 billion people, of which more than 60% are under 30 years of age.<\/p>\n More than 1000 entries were received this year \u2013 the highest ever recorded. The finalists were selected across each of the award\u2019s regional categories (Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe & Canada, and the Pacific) following a rigorous judging process.<\/p>\n Rianna says that her time at the University of Kent also allowed her to form international partnerships between UK organizations and the Dominica Dementia Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is an honor to be selected for this award, I am very grateful for the significant contributions of the team, mentors and advisors.”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The awards also serve to\u00a0inspire other young people to take action in\u00a0their communities.
