These are his recommendations:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Robert A Forde\u2019s <em>Bad Psychology<\/em> takes a critical look at the discipline of forensic psychology. Many would disagree with some of his conclusions, but it\u2019s so important to be open to this type of criticism. Review in the <a href=\"https:\/\/thepsychologist.bps.org.uk\/volume-2018\/february-2018\/forensic-psychology-dock\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BPS&#8217; <em>Psychologist<\/em> magazine<\/a>.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/psychology\/files\/2020\/04\/caoilte-o-ciardha2_400w.jpg\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">Though not directly about forensic psychology, <em>The Secret Barrister\u2019s<\/em> book<\/span><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"> gives great insight into the British Legal system and the many ways in which it\u2019s in crisis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">If you\u2019re interested in personality disorders and psychopathy, <em>The Psychopath Test<\/em> by Jon Ronson <\/span>is a compelling read. For broad reading around sexuality with implications for sexual offending <em>Perv<\/em> by <span class=\"r-18u37iz\">Jesse Bering <\/span>is great.<\/p>\n<p>One that\u2019s been on my reading list for ages but that I haven\u2019t gotten round to yet is <em>Making Evil: The Science Behind Humanity&#8217;s Dark Side<\/em> by Dr Julia Shaw. Perhaps I\u2019ll be able to remedy this during the current lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>The commute from Canterbury city to Kent Psychology is so short, that I haven\u2019t much time to get into podcasts.
