{"id":2156,"date":"2020-01-09T10:53:43","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T10:53:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/psychology\/?p=2156"},"modified":"2020-01-09T11:14:02","modified_gmt":"2020-01-09T11:14:02","slug":"lush-charity-pot-grant-of-3300-to-support-three-day-animal-advocacy-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/psychology\/2020\/01\/09\/lush-charity-pot-grant-of-3300-to-support-three-day-animal-advocacy-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Lush charity pot grant of \u00a33,300 to support three-day animal advocacy conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/psychology\/people\/244\/stoeber-joachim\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Professor Joachim Stoeber<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/psychology\/people\/220\/dhont-kristof\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr Kristof Dhont<\/a> have been awarded a Lush charity pot grant of \u00a33,300 to support their three-day conference <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/animaladvocacy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Animal Advocacy: Insights from the Social Sciences<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This prestigious and novel event will be held here on 24-26 June 2020 and will bring together a wide range of professionals from around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers from different fields in the social and behavioural sciences will present their latest ideas and findings in the following broadly defined domains:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The psychological, social, and societal factors shaping how we perceive and think about animals, human-animal relations, and animal welfare and rights<\/li>\n<li>The impact of advocacy and activism strategies related to animal rights, veganism, meat reduction and reduction of other animal products (eg dairy, eggs)<\/li>\n<li>The social and behavioral science of animal cruelty, meat consumption (and other animal-product consumption), vegetarianism\/veganism, and speciesism<\/li>\n<li>The connections and intersections between human-animal relations and human intergroup relations as well as between animal ethics and other social justice domains including environmentalism, feminism, and anti-racism.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This conference also uniquely bridges the gap between academic researchers and activists\/professionals in the field of vegan and animal rights advocacy.
