{"id":1251,"date":"2017-10-05T09:53:15","date_gmt":"2017-10-05T08:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/psychology\/?p=1251"},"modified":"2017-10-05T09:55:39","modified_gmt":"2017-10-05T08:55:39","slug":"heather-rolfe-wins-best-talk-prize-in-phd-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/psychology\/2017\/10\/05\/heather-rolfe-wins-best-talk-prize-in-phd-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Heather Rolfe wins best talk prize at PhD Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to all who participated in\u00a0our annual Psychology PhD Conference on 27 September.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, the School awards prizes to the best oral and poster presentations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best talk\u00a0prize (for 3rd year research students)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year the runaway winner for the oral presentation was<strong>\u00a0Heather Rolfe<\/strong>. Her research on the novel topic of\u00a0moral aspects of music preferences showed a clear, logical progression between studies and was presented with great verve and enthusiasm.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Special mentions<\/strong> go to the runners-up in both staff and popular ratings,<strong>\u00a0Courtney Allen<\/strong> and <strong>Emma Garcia<\/strong>. Their talks were clear and engaging, and both did a great job of communicating their programmatic work on topics of applied interest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best poster prizes (for 2nd year research students)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the posters, <strong>Fadi Ifram<\/strong> and <strong>Hannah Tummon<\/strong> walked away with joint first prize.\u00a0 Fadi&#8217;s was a very professional, attractive,\u00a0and uncluttered presentation of novel work on the effects of exercise on long-term memory. Hannah&#8217;s poster was quite different in that it conveyed a lot of detail about a multi-study programme of work on face matching, which simulates airports in VR.<\/p>\n<p>Well done to all presenters in both formats,\u00a0for showcasing your work and making it an intellectually rich and stimulating day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thanks to all who participated in\u00a0our annual Psychology PhD Conference on 27 September.
