Making an impact
- The first integrated therapy centre for Parkinson’s disease was launched in Canterbury and will be using Kent campus facilities and new ground-breaking research led by Professor David Wilkinson. Find out more.
- Dr Caoilte Ó Ciardha has been awarded a grant from End Violence’s Tech Coalition Safe Online Research Fund. Find out more about the project.
- Research by PhD candidate Samuel Hales and Professor Theresa Gannon revealed rapes and assaults admitted to by male UK students. See the full paper.
- Dr Jim Everett won the 2021 Society for Personality and Social Psychology’s Early Career Trajectory Award. This becomes the fourth early career award he has received this year alone. Read more about his awards.
- Research led by Professor Dominic Abrams, Dr Tim Hopthrow and Dr Fanny Lalot, found that carefully worded road signage can decrease the number of drivers leaving engines idling during queues at crossing barriers. Read more here and listen to Dr Lalot discuss the research on BBC Radio.

Did the pandemic make you re-evaluate?
- Dr Clara de Inocencio Laporta suggested that we may see more individuals pursuing vocations they are passionate about in 2021. “Even people who thought they had ‘dream jobs’ before Covid-19 are reflecting on what these amount to now that they are working from their kitchens or bedrooms.” Read more.

Inspiring a future generation
- “At precisely the moment Amal arrived on campus, I (Dr Lindsey Cameron) was about to run a class with our final year psychology students on psychology-based interventions in schools to tackle prejudice.” Little Amal arrived on campus.
- Psychology Graduate Rianna Patterson was appointed as Community Manager at One Young World – a global forum for young leaders. Read more about her role.
