{"id":6623,"date":"2024-11-07T15:17:35","date_gmt":"2024-11-07T15:17:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/?p=6623"},"modified":"2024-12-04T12:31:45","modified_gmt":"2024-12-04T12:31:45","slug":"panel-party-predictions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/2024\/11\/07\/panel-party-predictions\/","title":{"rendered":"Panel, Party and Predictions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Tuesday 5th November, experts from our Politics department and colleagues from other schools held a panel event &#8211; discussing the US election &#8211; with many students, staff members, and members of the public in attendance.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/people\/2596\/wroe-andrew\">Dr Andy Wroe<\/a>, a specialist in American politics, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/people\/505\/biegon-rubrick\">Dr Rubrick Biegon<\/a>, a specialist in US foreign policy, discussed the projections and possible implications of the election outcome. We were joined by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/history\/people\/1470\/basha-i-novosejt-aur%C3%A9lie\">Dr Aur\u00e9lie Basha i Novosejt<\/a>, Senior Lecturer in American history and Andrew Jauert, a History student, who provided historical context to the 2024 contest.<\/p>\n<p>Special shoutout to our co-organisers too &#8211; thank you to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/history\">History department<\/a><\/strong> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ukchistorysociety\/?hl=en\"><strong>UKC History Society<\/strong><\/a> for helping with the event.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the evening, we held a watch party!
