The University has partnered with local schools across the region to inform students about the upcoming EU referendum.<\/p>\n

Academics from the School of Politics and International Relations<\/a> (POLIR) have travelled to various schools to teach students about the background of the EU, the common myths and facts and encourage debate and discussion.<\/p>\n

On Monday 20 June, students from The King\u2019s School <\/a>in Canterbury took part in their own panel debate on the EU referendum and discussed topics from security, economy and immigration.<\/p>\n

Organised by King\u2019s Head of Politics, Owen Moelwyn-Hughes and Kent\u2019s Professor Elena Korosteleva, who is also Director of the Global Europe Centre<\/a>, students took part in an afternoon of informative debate and discussion.<\/p>\n

A toolkit<\/a>, which was designed by POLIR students under the supervision of Professor Richard Whitman, includes a range of different information and resources for students to engage in their own debates on the UK\u2019s membership of the EU.<\/p>\n

One of Kent\u2019s doctoral researchers, Igor Merheim-Eyre, put the toolkit into practise and students engaged with one another after a weekend of prepping for the big debate.<\/p>\n

The toolkit has been designed to inform the younger generation about the upcoming referendum and ensure that children of all ages are informed and engaged on Thursday 23 June.<\/p>\n
