The School of Politics and International Relations is proud to have once again sponsored the annual\u00a0Kent Teacher of the Year awards.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On Thursday 19th May a total of fifty one of the county\u2019s best educators, school volunteers and support staff attended an awards ceremony at Leeds Castle, each nominated for the vital roles they play in their communities.<\/p>\n

The Awards were started to mark the vital contribution that teaching staff make to our community and recognise the expertise and dedication that is the hallmark of an outstanding teacher. Nominations are received from the local community, colleagues, parents and students for teachers that have shown outstanding dedication in the last year. The School once again sponsored the award for Best Politics Teacher<\/em> in the county which was awarded to Mr Jonathan Joyce of Ursuline College<\/strong>, Westgate-on-Sea.<\/p>\n

Mr Joyce was nominated for\u00a0consistently going above and beyond in order to secure the academic progress and well-being of the students at the school, bringing the subject alive for young people and arranging trips to parliament and the BBC\u2019s Question Time; as well as overseeing the election of two of students to the local Thanet Youth Council. Mr Joyce also won Secondary Teacher of the Year<\/strong> for the Thanet district.<\/p>\n

The School would like to congratulate and thank all nominees and winners for their incredible work and ongoing dedication to the development and education of young people in the county.<\/p>\n
