Here is our year. <\/p>\n<p>With a new monarch and 2 new Prime-Ministers over the last few months alone in the UK, it&#8217;s really been blink-and-you&#8217;ll-have-to-completely-re-write-the-syllabus times around here!<\/p>\n<p>As a treat we&#8217;ve compiled the best statistics across our School and the UK&#8217;s ever-changing political landscape\u00a0(all correct at the time of &#8216;going to press&#8217; but we reserve the right to update every five minutes), as well as the best blogs and stories of 2022.<\/p>\n<h2>PolIR-Wrapped 2022!<\/h2>\n<p>We wrote 131 blogs this year, 13 about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4404\/why-is-vladimir-putin-is-so-obsessed-with-ukraine\"><strong>Russia<\/strong> <\/a>and 12 about <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4385\/the-beginning-of-the-end-for-johnson\">Boris Johnson<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The UK had 3 Prime Ministers in 7 weeks&#8230; see how Dr Andy Wroe&#8217;s students <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/CkN8Ysop3a0\/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y%3D\">took the news<\/a><\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Kent alumna <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FGJrgULaQo4\">Abena Oppong-Asare MP<\/a><\/strong> was in the top 100 <em>Women in Westminster<\/em> list this year!<\/p>\n<p>Putin-Opposing Russian collective, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/5121\/riot-days-pussy-riots-kent-masterclass-in-activism\"><strong>Pussy Riot<\/strong><\/a>, spent 7 days on campus. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/undergraduate\"><strong>Watch our film here<\/strong><\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4989\/head-of-school-completes-the-transcontinental-race-across-europe\"><strong>Dr Nadine Ansorg<\/strong><\/a> cycled 4000km across Europe and finished 109th out of 280 riders.<\/p>\n<p>Our most-read blog was student Halle&#8217;s lowdown of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4830\/model-united-nations-diplomacy-negotiation-and-friendship\"><strong>Model United Nations<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Matt Goodwin made countless <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4794\/broadcast-professor-matthew-goodwin-discusses-boris-johnsons-narrow-survival-in-confidence-vote\"><strong>TV appearances<\/strong><\/a> in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Liz Truss became the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/5240\/only-two-more-prime-ministers-to-go-til-christmas\"><strong>shortest-serving prime minister<\/strong><\/a> in UK history, serving 44 days in office. In that time, she could have watched our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/undergraduate\"><strong>Pussy Riot film<\/strong><\/a> 7,200 times.<\/p>\n<p>We held 4 graduations this year, celebrating the Class of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4591\/congratulations-interrupted\"><strong>2020<\/strong><\/a>, <a style=\"background-color: #ffffff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4736\/congradulations\"><strong>2021<\/strong><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/5401\/youre-a-class-of-2022-act\"><strong>2022!<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>3 separate parties made our news this year: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/5163\/being-a-labour-party-delegate-what-was-it-really-like-inside-the-conference\"><strong>Labour<\/strong> <\/a>Party Conference, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/5236\/a-student-inside-the-conservative-party-conference-2022\"><strong>Conservative<\/strong><\/a> Party Conference, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4674\/should-the-pm-be-investigated-for-lying-over-partygate\"><strong>Wine and Cheese<\/strong><\/a> party.<\/p>\n<h4>We wrote many blogs, but here were the most-mentioned World Leaders:<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/files\/2022\/12\/spotify-wrapped-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5554\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/files\/2022\/12\/spotify-wrapped-1.png\" alt=\"spotify wrapped (1)\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Our year can&#8217;t be contained in a playlist (of blogs), but we tried anyway.<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4270\/the-watch-list\"><strong>January<\/strong> <\/a>we deliberated: Casablanca or Black Panther?<\/li>\n<li>We went to the Political Psychology Conference in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4452\/global-political-psychology-conference-2022\"><strong>February<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li>We platformed Ukraine&#8217;s President Zelenskyy in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4532\/organizing-the-munich-security-conference-peace-through-dialogue\"><strong>March<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4613\/reacting-to-a-crisis\"><strong>April<\/strong> <\/a>we took part in a Model NATO conference<\/li>\n<li>We scored top marks in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4703\/top-marks-for-our-world-leading-research-environment-in-ref2021\"><strong>May<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4781\/understanding-turkeys-realignment-in-the-middle-east\"><strong>June<\/strong> <\/a>we understood Turkey&#8217;s Realignment in the Middle East<\/li>\n<li>We imagined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4921\/new-article-imagination-and-international-relations\"><strong>July<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/5005\/devometrics-measuring-decentralisation\"><strong>August<\/strong> <\/a>we measured decentralisation<\/li>\n<li>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/5121\/riot-days-pussy-riots-kent-masterclass-in-activism\"><strong>September<\/strong> <\/a>we rioted<\/li>\n<li>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/5231\/why-non-western-voices-are-key-to-addressing-human-rights-violations-in-china\"><strong>October<\/strong> <\/a>we addressed human rights violations in China<\/li>\n<li>Valentine Basset chaired her first MUN conference in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/5373\/ul-mun-a-chairs-experience\"><strong>November<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li>And in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/5540\/zimbabwes-application-to-re-join-the-commonwealth\"><strong>December<\/strong><\/a> Dr Kuzi Zigomo explained the significance of Zimbabwe&#8217;s steps to re-join the Commonwealth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Our Future Leaders<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Th\u00e9ophane Gauthier discovered the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4257\/the-european-youth-parliament\"><strong>European Youth Parliament<\/strong><\/a> (EYP) not thinking that this discovery would be life-changing.<\/li>\n<li>Student Meg Payne blogged about the campaign she organised to \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/4800\/taking-action-reclaim-the-streets\"><strong>reclaim these streets<\/strong><\/a>\u2019.<\/li>\n<li>Student Benjamin Van Broeckhuijsen wrote about the government\u2019s handling of the Manston detention centre for student paper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics-international-relations\/news\/5425\/bravermans-home-office-on-the-rocks-the-critical-migration-crisis-in-kent\"><strong>Inquire<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Best
