{"id":545,"date":"2015-12-02T09:10:03","date_gmt":"2015-12-02T09:10:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/?p=545"},"modified":"2015-12-16T13:02:16","modified_gmt":"2015-12-16T13:02:16","slug":"school-of-politics-and-ir-academic-staff-win-prestigious-award-for-teaching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/2015\/12\/02\/school-of-politics-and-ir-academic-staff-win-prestigious-award-for-teaching\/","title":{"rendered":"School of Politics and IR Academic Staff win prestigious award for teaching"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Dr Iain MacKenzie, Dr Stefan Rossbach and Dr Adrian Pabst, all lecturers in the School of Politics and International Relations, were honoured by the Political Studies Association at its Annual Awards Dinner. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Kent academics picked up the \u201cInnovation in Teaching Politics\u201d award for an exemplary case of teaching innovation that greatly enriches the student learning experience.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/files\/2015\/12\/PSA.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-563\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/files\/2015\/12\/PSA-300x201.jpg\" alt=\"PSA\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/files\/2015\/12\/PSA-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/files\/2015\/12\/PSA.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Political Studies Association (PSA), the UK\u2019s leading body for the study and development of politics, has honoured three lecturers from the University of Kent for their teaching at its Annual Awards Dinner which took place on Tuesday, 1st of December at Church House in Westminster.<\/p>\n<p>The award, which recognises the most innovative teaching methods in politics, was given to Dr Iain McKenzie, Dr Stefan Rossback and Dr Adrian Pabst. The lecturers use a diverse range of teaching methods &#8211; from large lectures to small group discussions, simulation exercises, and class debates. Working together, MacKenzie, Rossbach and Pabst have developed a module entitled \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/courses\/modulecatalogue\/modules\/PO936\">Resistance in Practice\u2019 <\/a>which innovatively blends traditional seminar discussion, interactive workshops and work with partner organisations such as Tate Modern.
