Her passion for research and activism has\u00a0led her to design and co-ordinate a Black British Culture project for year 10 students at Chatham Grammar School, her alma mater,\u00a0to learn about Black British history, culture and heritage while also learning practical research skills.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018I don\u2019t think one month should be all that\u00a0you\u00a0study, it should be\u00a0part of every single day that you live\u00a0and integrated into the main syllabus.\u2019<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Glory\u2019s project has two aims to increase awareness of Black History as well as the opportunities in academia. \u2018<\/span>This will be a collaborative project with Professors, Lecturers with both MA and PhD students, supported by ambassadors. In the end, students will create their own research proposal based on what they have learnt.\u2019<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Whilst Glory thinks Black\u00a0History\u00a0Month is\u00a0still\u00a0relevant\u00a0she finds it limiting.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018I don\u2019t think one month should be all that\u00a0you\u00a0study, it should be\u00a0part of every single day that you live\u00a0and integrated into the main syllabus.\u2019<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Glory wants black students to feel pride in their history, UK history\u00a0that currently\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0taught.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018We learnt about US figures like Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King but\u00a0not\u00a0about UK figures. After all\u00a0this is not just black history,\u00a0it’s\u00a0<\/span>our\u00a0<\/span><\/i>history,\u00a0this is everybody\u2019s history.\u2019<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Ancient Africa and Transatlantic slavery is on her syllabus, as well as figures from the UK Civil Rights Movement in the UK and a contemporary look at Black Lives Matter.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The program will lead to the students\u00a0to\u00a0creating their own research proposal about\u00a0a\u00a0topic of interest that centres on Black British Culture. Students will be encouraged to develop a question and be given\u00a0creative\u00a0freedom in what they produce, \u2018it could be a piece of art, a video, article or just a written piece.\u2019<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Education is about inspiring people.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Glory has a big vision\u00a0for the project.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u2018This is just a pilot project.
