{"id":361,"date":"2015-06-15T10:22:58","date_gmt":"2015-06-15T10:22:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/?p=361"},"modified":"2015-07-02T11:57:56","modified_gmt":"2015-07-02T11:57:56","slug":"election-blues-why-labour-lost-what-it-is-for-and-how-it-can-win-again-250615","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/2015\/06\/15\/election-blues-why-labour-lost-what-it-is-for-and-how-it-can-win-again-250615\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Election Blues: Why Labour lost, what it is for and how it can win again&#8217; &#8211; 25\/06\/15"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of Dr Adrian Pabst&#8217;s research grant from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the\u00a0University of Kent\u00a0on Blue Labour, there will be a one-day event entitled \u2018Election Blues: Why Labour lost, what it is for and how it can win again\u2019 on <strong>Thursday 25 June 2015, Committee Room 2, House of Lords<\/strong>, <strong>11am-6pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/files\/2015\/06\/election-blues-conference.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-365\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/files\/2015\/06\/election-blues-conference-300x215.jpg\" alt=\"election blues conference, House of Lords\" width=\"300\" height=\"215\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Among the confirmed speakers are<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lord Maurice Glasman<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jon Cruddas MP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rowenna Davis (2015 Labour parliamentary candidate, Southampton Itchen)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Prof. John Curtice (psephologist and Professor of Politic sat Strathclyde)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>James Morris (Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Prof. Matthew Goodwin (Kent)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Prof. Eric Kaufmann (Birkbeck)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ruth Davis (Political Director, Greenpeace UK)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Marcus Roberts (former Deputy Secretary General, The Fabians)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At 11am <strong>John Curtice <\/strong>will for the first time present his findings about where Labour lost and who it failed to win over. Then James Morris, who worked as a pollster for the leadership, will talk about how Labour&#8217;s defeat came about. This will be followed by a panel debate.<\/p>\n<p>At 2.15pm <strong>Jon Cruddas MP<\/strong> will give an address on what Labour is for its principles and purpose.\u00a0Among the panelists are Prof. Richard Beardsworth (Aberyswyth), Prof. John Milbank (Nottingham) and Marcus Roberts.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, at 4.15pm <strong>Lord Maurice Glasman<\/strong> will be in conversation with other Labour figures about how Labour can win again.
