The University\u2019s\u00a0Conflict Analysis Research Centre (CARC)\u00a0is holding a virtual launch for the newly updated \u2018Northern Ireland: The Fragile Peace\u2019 (Yale Books) on Tuesday 11 May from 14:00-15:30.<\/p>\n

Written by Emeritus Professor of International Conflict Analysis, Feargal Cochrane<\/a>, the open-to-all book launch will explore the consequences for Northern Ireland after Britain\u2019s decision to leave the European Union.<\/p>\n

Professor Cochrane will be introduced by\u00a0Professor Neophytos Loizides<\/a>, Professor of International Conflict Analysis and Director of CARC<\/a>. Professor Loizides will oversee a discussion of the book<\/a> before facilitating a Q&A between attendees and Professor Cochrane.<\/p>\n

Originally published in 2013 as \u2018The Reluctant Peace\u2019, the re-titled \u2018Northern Ireland: The Fragile Peace\u2019 contains the complete\"\"<\/a> history of Northern Ireland from the Irish Civil War to Brexit and has now been updated to coincide with the region\u2019s centenary.<\/p>\n

Professor Cochrane argues that Brexit represents the biggest threat to the continued existence of Northern Ireland since Ireland was partitioned in 1921. New chapters consider the region\u2019s troubled history from the struggle for Irish independence in the nineteenth century to the present.<\/p>\n
