{"id":2075,"date":"2020-08-12T10:49:30","date_gmt":"2020-08-12T10:49:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/?p=2075"},"modified":"2020-08-18T10:50:54","modified_gmt":"2020-08-18T10:50:54","slug":"international-politics-expert-contributes-to-global-coverage-on-belarus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/2020\/08\/12\/international-politics-expert-contributes-to-global-coverage-on-belarus\/","title":{"rendered":"International politics expert contributes to global coverage on Belarus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Elena Korosteleva, Professor of International Politics at the School of Politics and International Relations and a leading specialist in European \u2018neighbourhood affairs\u2019, has been a prominent expert voice in global media following the recent civil unrest in the Republic of Belarus.<\/p>\n<p>Following the country\u2019s controversial presidential election outcome, the republic has been the focus of headlines worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Korosteleva, who is also Principal Investigator for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/research.kent.ac.uk\/gcrf-compass\/\">COMPASS Project<\/a>\u00a0at Kent, has recently appeared on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\">BBC News<\/a>, Al Jazeera,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sounds\/play\/m000lmst\">BBC Radio 4\u2019s \u2018World at One\u2019<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.channel4.com\/news\/belarus-opposition-rejects-sundays-election-win-for-europes-last-dictator\">Channel 4 News<\/a> , <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=TTFkPUuKMLc\">ITV News<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sounds\/play\/m000llk5\">BBC Radio Scotland &#8211; Lunch Time Live<\/a> (1.15.55 min) providing her expert insights into the nation\u2019s troubled political situation.<\/p>\n<p>Her research, supported by the UK government through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gtr.ukri.org\/projects?ref=ES%2FP010849%2F1\">Global Challenges Research Fund<\/a>\u00a0has established \u2018regional hubs of excellence\u2019 at universities in the Eastern Neighbourhood and Central Asia to create research partners for the post-Brexit UK.
