{"id":1093,"date":"2018-05-23T14:43:44","date_gmt":"2018-05-23T14:43:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/?p=1093"},"modified":"2018-05-23T14:43:44","modified_gmt":"2018-05-23T14:43:44","slug":"politics-art-and-resistance-tate-exchange-workshop-other-at-tate-modern","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.kent.ac.uk\/polir-news\/2018\/05\/23\/politics-art-and-resistance-tate-exchange-workshop-other-at-tate-modern\/","title":{"rendered":"Politics, Art and Resistance &#8211; Tate Exchange workshop &#8216;OTHER&#8217; at Tate Modern"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are delighted to announce that over 2,000 people from all over the globe took part in our MOOC online course <a href=\"https:\/\/www.futurelearn.com\/courses\/politics-art-resistance\">Politics, Art and Resistance.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We invite you to join POLIR&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics\/staff\/canterbury\/mackenzie.html\">Dr Iain MacKenzie<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/politics\/staff\/canterbury\/rossbach.html\">Dr Stefan Rossbach<\/a>\u00a0at Tate Modern from <strong>Wednesday 30 May &#8211; Sunday 3 June<\/strong>\u00a0for the Tate Exchange event <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/whats-on\/tate-modern\/tate-exchange\/workshop\/other\">OTHER<\/a> programmed by the School of Politics and International Relations in collaboration with <a href=\"http:\/\/valleyskids.org\/\">Valley Kids<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canterbury.ac.uk\/\">CCCU<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/peopleunited.org.uk\/\">People United.<\/a>\u00a0During the event they will be presenting <strong>a photo mosaic produced by the MOOC students.<\/strong> Students were invited to submit an image of \u2018what resistance meant to them\u2019. Covered in a grey, clay-like substance, they walked slowly through Hamburg, initially in groups of about 40 people, before they gathered in the city centre and staged an \u2018awakening\u2019, whereby they broke through their grey, crusty shells and revealed colourful tops underneath. Where there was grey darkness, uniformity, indifference, apathy and isolation before, there emerged colour, joy, diversity and community, suggesting that life can be lived differently.\u00a0We are delighted to be able to welcome Gudrun Schoppe, Johannes Naber, Franziska Brodhun, Lillian Rosa Potthoff and Tarek Abou Alseoud from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/1000gestalten.de\/en\/\">1000 Gestalten collective<\/a>\u00a0to discus the inspiration that informed their project, its message and impact<\/p>\n<p>The discussion will take place on <strong>Saturday, June 2, from 15:30<\/strong>, in the <strong>TATE Exchange space, Level 5, Blavatnik Building, TATE Modern<\/strong>.
