CARC/Oxford Research Group Yemen Roundtable
Herewith, we would like to invite you all to attend a Yemen roundtable co-hosted by Oxford Research Group’s Strategic Peacebuilding Programme (formerly Middle East Programme) and the University of Kent through its Conflict Analysis Research Centre (CARC). The roundtable will take place from 2-6pm on 1st December 2017 at the University of Kent in Canterbury in the Darwin Board Room (Darwin College)
To give you an overview for now, we plan to use this space as an opportunity to explore how to forge an effective process of political dialogue in Yemen that provides a genuine platform for various identity or interest groups within Yemeni society, and delineates a clear role for third parties in light of the impact of external factors. We will look at the unique dimensions of the Yemen conflict, and draw on some of the lessons learned from National Dialogue Conference as well as comparative examples from other contexts. The output of the roundtable will be a working paper (under the Chatham House rule) which will be published and disseminated to interested parties and relevant policy makers to help shape their involvement. The event will also be instrumental in supporting ORG and its Yemeni partner, the Sanaa Center for Strategic Studies, in its development of a new project that seeks to engage with these issues.
We very much hope you will be able to join us and share some of your experience and expertise.
This Yemen roundtable event is free, but seating is limited so we kindly ask you to RSVP. The event is open to POLIR staff and PGR students only.
