Kent is one of 69 Higher Education institutions where members of the University and College Union (UCU) voted in support of taking strike action, or action short of a strike, over HE sector pay and conditions.
The dates for the planned strike action are as follows:
- Monday 24 February – Wednesday 26 February (3 consecutive days)
- Monday 2 March – Thursday 5 March (4 consecutive days)
- Monday 9 March – Friday 13 March (5 consecutive days)
- Monday 16 March – Tuesday 17 March (2 consecutive days)
UCU members are also undertaking action short of a strike (ASOS) which could continue until April 2020.

We are holding the Student Voice Forum on Wednesday 26 February 12.30-13:00pm in Colyer-Fergusson Seminar Room – CFSR. All Politics and International Relations students are welcome to come along and discuss any concerns they have.
We’ll be meeting with your Student Reps at the Politics and International Relations Student Voice Committee which starts straight after the Student Voice Forum next Wednesday, so feedback your concerns to your Reps so they can raise them with us.
What can I do during the strike?
We would urge you to continue with your learning and use the time to reflect on your work independently. University campuses will be open as usual with libraries, study spaces, PC rooms, student services, sports facilities, catering and accommodation operating as normal. You should also have full access to all buildings and facilities as you would expect to. The University has suggested that you use the time and free teaching space to organise into student-led sessions to discuss coursework or approaches relating to the module.
