Blind Date with A Book

The Student Experience and Success Team invited all students to take part in their ‘Blind Date with a Book’ event this month.

While the rest of the world seemed captured by Valentine fever the Student Experience and Success Team invited all students to take part in their ‘Blind Date with a Book’ event. Students were asked to donate a book they thought someone else might like, wrap it up with a short description written on the front, and drop their donations off at Marlowe or Kennedy receptions. Thanks to some very generous donations, there were over 100 books wrapped up ready for students to pick their book blind date!

On Wednesday students and staff were able to drop by KLT4 to read through all the personalised descriptions and take their pick of a new book, based completely on someone else’s recommendation. There were plenty to choose from, from thrillers, to romance to non-fiction and poetry! One student was very happy to unwrap a copy of The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt to add to her bookshelves. Students had lots of fun trying to guess the books from their descriptions and size, and one book had a very distinctive rattle when picked up! Thank you to everyone who donated books, and came along to the event, we hope everyone who picked up a book enjoys their new read! Keep an eye out for our future events and the next Book Blind Date.
