Welcome!

After a quiet year on campus with most learning and working from home, it was amazing to see the Canterbury campus come back to life this Welcome Week.

Welcoming students back onto campus, some even for the first time, we were blessed with some September British sunshine during Welcome Week.

Alongside activities organised by the University, the Division of Human and Social Sciences which includes the Schools of Anthropology and Conservation, Economics, Psychology, and Politics and International Relations organised a variety of activities for their students to get to know others and discover the Canterbury campus.

The Scavenger Hunt

  • A shopping list of shots to capture across campus and an excellent opportunity to meet and make new friends! The overall winner’s Team Chupa Chups and most creative photo winners Team Gryffindor walked away with the prizes.

Chill Zone

  • A chance for extreme relaxation amongst the busyness, a range of activities, providing quieter ways to connect with yourself and others was on offer in the Chill Zone.

POLIR Question TimeĀ

  • Dr Iain MacKenzie stood in as Fiona Bruce seamlessly (have you ever seen them in the same room together?) with Professor Richard Whitman, Dr Harmonie Toros and Dr Ed Morgan Jones making up the panel. The best part however was being in a room with students again, hearing your questions and views!

The Big Quiz

  • Having written rounds for Mastermind, competed in The Chase, 15 to 1 and Blockbusters, Quizmaster Steve specially constructed the Big Quiz for the Division.
