Irish Diplomacy in a Globalised World, presented by Ambassador Mulhall

As part of the School’s Beacon Project, Diplomacy @ Kent were pleased to welcome His Excellency Daniel Mulhall, Ambassador of Ireland to Great Britain, who presented Irish Diplomacy in a Globalised World. This event was held on Monday 2nd February 2015 at 7pm in Grimond Lecture Theatre 2 and was followed by a drinks reception.

Daniel Mulhall became Ambassador of Ireland to Great Britain in September 2013. Ambassador Mulhall is the 14th Irish Ambassador to Britain. He first entered the Department of Foreign Affairs as a Third Secretary on 31st March, 1978 and has held positions in the Department’s Economic, Political and Development Cooperation Divisions. In 1994 he began a year-long position as a member of the Secretariat of Ireland’s Forum for Peace and Reconciliation. Across his career Ambassador Mulhall has had diplomatic postings in New Delhi, Vienna, Brussels (EU), Edinburgh (as Consulate General of Ireland in Scotland) and Kuala Lumpur, where he was Ireland’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, between 2001 and 2005. September 2005 saw him appointed as Assistant Secretary of the European Union Division. In 2009, Ambassador Mulhall served as ambassadorial representative for the Republic of Ireland in Berlin. He was then appointed Irish Ambassador to Great Britain in September 2013.
