The EU’s policy towards its Eastern Neighbours is in a condition of flux. The events of Vilnius Summit in November 2013 and the political upheaval in Ukraine have raised questions as to the coherence and effectiveness of the EU’s Eastern Partnership policy.

This conference seeks to interrogate current understanding of the EU’s capacity for influence within its neighbourhood. It will explore the changing dynamic in the EU’s relationship with its neighbours and the extent to which this is adequate captured by existing approaches to the study of the EaP. The conference also seeks to develop understanding of the relationship between Russia and the European Union and the ongoing impact on the Eastern Partnership.

The conference will bring together established scholars, research degree students and practitioners engaged in the study of the EU’s Eastern neighbourhood.
