The workshop aimed to increase awareness and knowledge about student mental health, including the additional challenges facing students who start this year. She also discussed self-care and helped students identify when and how to access additional support to help you have a positive student experience at Kent. Especially if we aren\u2019t from the local area?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>I am a third year student and have previously struggled with juggling with a long term relationship and commitments\/work load at uni what can I do to split my time, or feel less stressed?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>How could you stop doing bad habits just because the stress?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<\/details>\n<details>\n<summary><strong>Outside of just dropping hints, is there an easy way to tell people that you are more sensitive to things and may perceive situations differently?<\/strong><\/summary>\n<\/details>\n<h4 id=\"resources\">Mental Health Resources and Tips<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Student Minds offers web-based resources specifically for students \u2013 check out it out at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.studentminds.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.studentminds.org.uk<\/a>. As well as tips and support for yourself, Student Minds also has info about how to start a conversation with a friend and what to do if you\u2019re concerned that another student is struggling with their mental health.<\/li>\n<li>Student Space has been created by Student Minds specifically to help students with the unique challenges of studying in a time of Covid19. \u00a0Personalised support via text or email is available 24\/7, while you can speak with a trained volunteer on the phone or to others via an online forum from 4-11pm every day.\u00a0 All the info is here <a href=\"https:\/\/studentspace.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/studentspace.org.uk\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Resilience is about adapting to adverse and changing circumstances \u2013 looking after yourself physically and emotionally, building social connections and developing coping strategies are its foundations.\u00a0 Prioritise sleep, exercise and good food, make contact with those around you and do what makes you feel good!<\/li>\n<li>Check out how the University of Kent will be helping students to socialise safely during Welcome Week and beyond\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/safe-study-social\/lets-be-social\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/safe-study-social\/lets-be-social<\/a><\/li>\n<li>What\u2019s filling up your <strong>stress bucket<\/strong>?\u00a0 Although we might not be able to reduce stresses building up, we can make sure that we turn on our self-care taps to ensure that our bucket doesn\u2019t overflow.\u00a0 Check out this video by Braive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1KYC5SsJjx8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1KYC5SsJjx8<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4 id=\"student-tips\">Feedback from our students<\/h4>\n<p>Following the event, we asked attendees to fill in a <a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=VvqpUTI_mkSnIT4_Sapemv0ilZdMko1MhtQAz2MmNbZUQUhHNzNEOUZTV0wwNE9HR0dERTAyTDZQVS4u\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">short survey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>They told us that, thanks to the workshop they will try something to help improve their mental health \u2013 why not give their tips and ideas a go?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Talk to my housemates<\/li>\n<li>Check up regularly with my friends to see how they are<\/li>\n<li>Try to get exercise<\/li>\n<li>Create and maintain some structure in my day so that I can keep on top of things that are important<\/li>\n<li>Stay away my computer when I can<\/li>\n<li>Sleep better \u2013 to improve my mental performance<\/li>\n<li>When the pressure of anxiety kicks in, I will try to address it calmly and use breathing techniques.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And remember, if you have any worries about your own \u2013 or others \u2013 mental health, please do reach out to us.
